Our aim - click for more
• challenge stereotypes about young and older people
• create fabulous opportunities for exchanging skills
• give new experiences and create new networks and friendships
• encourage social inclusion & reduce isolation
• support groups to set up their own intergenerational projects
School of Life is our intergenerational programme, bringing together older and younger people in four county areas. Working with our partners, South Northants Volunteer Bureau & Nene Valley Community Action, we are running for the next three years, to deliver a set of exciting opportunities across the county.
The programme has been delivered on two previous occasions, but thanks to our successful Big Lottery bid, funds now support a team of three people working across four areas of the county, to drive the project forward, and give support to participants. These areas are:
• East Northants
• South Northants
Activities can include one-off sessions, longer four to six week programmes, or one-off celebratory events - click for more
• workshops and training that bring older and younger people together
• events that are planned and delivered by the local community
• skills sharing between generations so that both older people and younger people learn from each other
• Importantly, all of the activities are about bringing communities together, and having fun!
Voluntary Impact Northamptonshire acts as the lead service provider, and we look forward to working with everyone to promote good practice through our workshops, training sessions, and events.
We are excited to work with a wide range of county agencies to help them get the most out of intergenerational working.
